Coils and cores for increasing magnetic field strength. The core concentrates the magnetic lines of force around the coil and circulates them from the core. When the core is removed, the magnetic induction between the coils is reduced. Like a circuit, the magnetic circuit always looks for locations of small magnetic resistance. The magnetic resistance of the core is much smaller than that of air, so the magnetic flux outside the core is reduced.
