The main components and materials of a high-frequency transformer include the iron core, windings, insulating parts, tap changer, oil tank, and so on. Among them, the iron core is one of the basic components, which is usually made of ferrite material, such as ferrite core. The role of the core is to reduce the leakage of magnetism and leakage inductance, increase the coil heat dissipation area, is conducive to shielding and coil easy to wind. Winding is a winding structure on which both primary and secondary windings are wound, usually made of copper or aluminium wire wrapped in insulating paper and divided into high-voltage winding and low-voltage winding. The design of the winding should consider the operating frequency and rated voltage.

The insulating parts mainly refer to electric porcelain, electrical laminated wood and insulating cardboard, which are used to ensure the insulating properties of the transformer. The tap changer is divided into two ways: no-load voltage regulation and on-load voltage regulation, which ensures that the voltage of the grid varies within a reasonable range. The oil tank is the shell of the transformer, the main role is insulation and cooling.

In the choice of materials, high-frequency transformer core loss and frequency relationship is very large, need to be designed and used according to the operating frequency. Ferrite cores are suitable for 10KHz-50MHz, while silicon steel sheet cores do not exceed 400Hz. suitable core shape can reduce losses and maintain sufficient flux density.
